Under The Umbrella - A Modern Retelling
In this beautifully illustrated scene, modern-day Jo March and Professor Friedrich Bhaer share a quiet, intimate moment in the rain. Inspired by the iconic "Under the Umbrella" scene from Little Women. I made this illustration for a modern retelling. Image captures the essence of love, longing, and new beginnings in a contemporary setting. During the years I have been working at the little women podcast, one thing I know for sure. Louisa May Alcott was in love with philosopher Henry David Thoreau. He is not only Friedrich in Little Women, he is the romantic interest in all of her novels. To me that makes Jo’s and Friedrich’s love story even more special.
